Terms

Last updated 27 September 2026

The ground rules for this website, the waitlist and our emails, in plain English. They don't cover buying Scout: that happens on Kickstarter, under Kickstarter's own terms.

About these terms

These terms cover scoutcam.ai: the Scout pages, the waitlist, our emails, the tester questions, the optional reservation deposit and the Field notes. By using the site you agree to them. Our privacy page explains what we keep about you.

"We", "us" and "Scout" mean NatureScope LLC, the company that makes Scout, registered in Wyoming, USA. You can reach us any time at hello@scoutcam.ai.

Our postal address:
NatureScope LLC, 30 N Gould Street, Ste R, Sheridan, WY 82801, USA

The site is for grown-ups

Scout is made for curious kids aged 9 to 13, but this website, the waitlist and the tester programme are for parents, carers and other grown-ups aged 18 or over. Children shouldn't join the waitlist themselves.

The waitlist

  • It's free, and it isn't an order. Joining doesn't commit you to anything, and it isn't a purchase or a promise to buy.
  • Founding Family places go in the order families join. When the Kickstarter opens, families on the list hear first and get the first chance at the Founding Family price. There's a set number of Founding Family places; we'll tell you the number and the price in our emails, and once they've gone, they've gone.
  • Plans can change before launch. We'll keep you posted, and we'll never make a claim about Scout that isn't true. Pictures of Scout on this site are pre-production designs and renders, so the finished camera and app may look a little different.
  • You can leave any time with the link at the bottom of every email.

Kickstarter

Scout launches on Kickstarter in spring 2027. Pledges are made on Kickstarter and are governed by Kickstarter's terms of use, not by these terms. A few things worth knowing:

  • Kickstarter is a way to back a project that's being made, not a shop. Delivery dates are our honest estimates, and we'll tell backers straight away if anything changes.
  • On Kickstarter, backers are only charged if the campaign reaches its goal.
  • The price you see on Kickstarter is the one that counts.

Reserving a place (when offered)

Sometimes we offer the chance to hold a Founding Family place with a small deposit. If you take it:

  • The deposit is paid through Stripe; we never see your card details.
  • It holds your place and your price for launch day. It isn't taken off your pledge.
  • It's fully refundable, any time: just reply to any of our emails and we'll refund it in full.
  • It isn't a pledge or an order for Scout. You'll still choose whether to back Scout on Kickstarter.

Tester families

Answering the tester questions is optional, and choosing tester families is up to us: we look for a good mix of ages, places and ways of exploring, so not everyone who asks can be chosen. If you're chosen, we'll tell you exactly what's involved before anything is sent. Test Scouts are pre-production, so the radio and safety rules mean they come back to us when the test ends; we send a prepaid label. Tester families pay the shipping, which we refund once the test is finished, you've shared your feedback and the test Scout is on its way back, and they get their own brand-new Scout 100% off on launch day.

Out in nature

Our Field notes and Scout itself are there to get families outside, and nature is wonderful but not always gentle.

  • Children should explore with a grown-up, or with the freedom a grown-up who knows them has agreed.
  • Never touch, pick or eat a plant, fungus or animal because of anything on this site or on Scout. Identifying living things is hard, and our identifications are there to spark curiosity, not to decide what's safe.
  • Follow the Countryside Code, respect private land and leave wildlife as you found it.

Using the site

Please don't misuse the site: no bots or automated sign-ups, no signing other people up without asking them, no attempts to break or overload it, and nothing unlawful.

The words, pictures, sounds, characters (Sophie and the other guides), logo and design on this site belong to Scout or the people who licensed them to us. You're welcome to share a link to any page or Field note. Please don't copy our content to use elsewhere without asking.

Our responsibility

We work hard to keep the site accurate and running, but it's provided free and as it is, and we can't promise it will always be available or error-free. We aren't responsible for websites we link to.

Nothing in these terms limits anything the law says we can't limit, such as our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Your statutory rights as a consumer aren't affected.

Changes and the law

We may update these terms as Scout gets closer to launch. We'll change the date at the top, and if a change matters to you, we'll email you first.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, USA. Wherever you live, you keep the protection of the consumer laws of your own country, and you can bring a claim in your local courts.
